1st quarter convention and seminar for 2013 - a huge success
More than 200 students and professionals attended the “Radio Frequency Identification Systems” and “Cyber Security” seminars held last March 16, 2013 in Balanga City.
Both speakers are distinguished professionals in their respective fields of electronics engineering. Engr. Rogelio G. Tiglao is the current IT manager of Viskase Asia Corp., in Clark Field, Angeles City. He also had engineered several RFID systems both locally and abroad.
An officer with a rank of major, Engr. Allan S. Cabanlong, PECE, MSGITS, is currently the chief of the web services and cyber security division at the Philippine National Police (PNP). His primary responsibility is planning, designing and implementing cyber security strategies of the PNP. He also co-authored the chapter 9 of “Law, Policy and Technology: CyberTerrorism, Information Warfare and Internet Immobilization.” He took his master of science in global information and telecommunications studies (MSGITS) in Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan.
The event became a huge success due to active participation of all IECEP-Bataan board members and officers including student chapter leaders and members from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Bataan Heroes Memorial College (BHMC), Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Microcity and PUP Mariveles.
IECEP Bataan to hold its 1st quarter seminar and convention for 2013
Barely a month after the successful run-for-a-cause, the IECEP Bataan chapter is embarking on another program to equip its electronics engineers, future electronics engineers and other allied professionals in dealing with the rapid changes in our technology. Parts of the program are series of seminars spread throughout the year.
The first on the series of seminars is a daylong activity, to be held on March 16, 2013 at Community Discipleship Center (formerly Star Cinema Building, besides PSBank), Don Manuel Banzon Ave., Balanga City. The said seminar is divided into two parts:
Topic 2 (1400 – 1600) – “Cyber Security” by Engr. Allan Cabanlong
Students can register for only Php 300.00/person while Php 500.00 per IECEP associate/professional member. Non-members can also attend the said seminar at Php 600.00. The registration is inclusive of light snacks (AM/PM) and lunch.
Students are advised to pre-register on or before March 13, 2013 through their school chapter presidents. Associates and professional members can register on-site.
Six (6) CPE points will be credited to all IECEP professionals who will attend the said seminar. The seminar is in-line with IECEP’s program of continuing education for all electronics engineers in the country.
IECEP-Bataan turns over Php 9k to King's Garden Children's Home
From the proceeds of the fun run last February 23, 2013 which was attended by both students and professionals, IECEP-Bataan donated a total of nine thousand pesos (Php 9,000) to the King’s Garden Children’s Home (KGCH) in Palonatin Road, Upper Sabatan, Orion, Bataan.
In behalf of the KGCH, the cash donation was accepted by its present director, Rev. Monica Jarvis, RN. The turn-over was also witnessed by all three vice governors and one board of director namely Engr. Adrian C. Sanchez, Engr. Hazel Y. Forbes, Engr. Chistopher V. Maglaque and Engr. Johnlery O. Cruz, respectively. Engr. Faye Baret was also present during the turn-over.
The fund will benefit at least fifty less fortunate children, from babies up to late teens, under the care of KGCH. The institution provides food, clothing, shelter, education, guidance and counseling and spiritual growth to mostly abandoned, orphaned, neglected, poor and children. Their work is anchored on strong Christian values and biblical principles.
KGCH opened in 1994 through its founder, Rev. Lois Prater, who just recently passed last January 10 at the age of 100. She sold most of her properties in Lake Stevens, WA, USA to purchase around five hectares of land for the KGCH. She later raised funds from donations and gifts for the construction of the orphanage.

IECEP Bataan to Establish Interim IECEP-Bataan SC
Inspired by the catch phrase of IECEP labeled “One Profession, One Organization, One Family”,
the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IECEP) Bataan
Chapter plan to establish an interim
organization of Electronics Engineering students from different participating
schools from Bataan as well as the neighboring cities and provinces and then
shall carry the name“Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc.
(IECEP) Bataan – Student Chapter”.

is as follows:

The merging of student chapters aims to endorse comradeship among student chapter members, to create an intact relationship among the different organizations and to uplift more the learning status of ECE students within the vicinity by means of promoting seminars for the students and the like.
The officers of the Student Chapters of different schools as well as the officers of the Professionals are working together for the said merged organization to materialize.
IECEP-Bataan 2nd Quarter Convention and Seminars Embarked
The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IECEP) – Bataan Chapter conducted their Second Quarter Convention and Seminars last Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Lou-is Resort and Restaurant, Capitol Drive Balanga City.
The said event which was sponsored by Smart
Communications and State Alliance, Inc., encompassed the seminars on Structured
Cabling and Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Republic Act 9292
also known as “The New Electronics Code” was partook by Local Government Unit’s
Representatives, ECE and
IT professionals from the industry and the academe and students from different schools such as Bataan Heroes Memorial College, Bataan Peninsula State University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran - Bataan, Columban College, Lyceum of Subic Bay and Microcity Computer College Foundation, Inc.
IECEP-National Immediate Former President Ornan S. Vicente stunned the crowd as he conveys the technical terms involved in Structured Cabling or commonly known nowadays as the Information Transport System.
Meanwhile, Engr. Romulo R. Agatep, IECEP-National Former President (1994-1995,2009), served the audience with jampacked knowledge regarding the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the RA 9292 as well as the National Building Code of the Philippines and some hot issues about strengthening the value of ECE Profession here and abroad by sharing their recent negotiations with the neighboring countries.
The aforementioned affair included question and answer fora for the benefit of those who have some clarifications regarding the two topics that were been discussed. The seminar ended by expressing gratitude to the resource speakers, sponsors and to the attendees who do not hesitate in supporting the organization's endeavors.
The Department of Energy Luzon Office in cooperation with theprovincial Capitol of Bataan conducted a seminar on Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program in Government Offices and Agencies last May 16,2012 at Bulwagan II, Capitol Compound, Balanga City. This seminar aims to increase the awareness and to promote efficient utilization of the available energy resources. IECEP Bataan chapter was invited in the said seminar. IECEP Bataan Chapter was represented by the VG for education- Engr. Angelo N. Rodriguez.
There are four topics in this seminar. These are Climate Change, Understanding the Electric Bill, Energy Conservation tips and the Philippine Energy Labelling Program. The topics were delivered by Engr. Reynaldo V. Liganor of Department of Energy (DoE), Engr. Loreto Marcelino of Penelco, Engr. Romulo Callangan Jr. Of DoE, and Engr. Nelson Fajardo of DoE, respectively.
IECEP-Bataan Chapter Started the Campaign for R.A. 9292
IECEP-Bataan Chapter, the duly recognized association of professional organization of Electronics Engineers in Bataan, started its campaign on R.A. 9292 also known as “Electronics Engineering Law of 2004”. As part of the annual plan of the organization, officers started visiting local government units (LGU) within the province of Bataan. On May 14, 2012, Monday, Engr. Rodrigo C. Muñoz, Jr. (newly elected chapter Governor) and Engr. Domer A. Rubiano (Chapter Immediate Past Governor) made the visits to the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) headed by Engr. Enrico Yuzon (left Photo) and to the Municipal Mayor of the town of Orion, Hon. Jose ‘Pepe’ Santos (photo below).
The aim of the visits is to campaign the implementation of the participation of the ECE professionals in the inspections and safety of the design, construction, and occupancy of every establishments in the province. As stipulated in the “New Building Code”,Electronics Engineers must duly inspect every establishment utilizing electronic equipment and systems as well as any telecommunication devices and masses. The engineers sought positive responses from the two heads of LGUs and they expressed their supports on the implementation of the said law. As signs of favorable responses, solicited inputs and suggestions were also given by the heads of the respective units which are certainly taken with utmost considerations by the officers of the organization to smoothly expedite the imposition.
There is already strict implementation of the said law in one of the towns of the province that gives way to the organization to push its application to the rest of the towns. This move of the organization will surely boost the interests of other ECEs to level up their expertise as they will be recognized as professional discipline that participates in the safety concerns of the community.
With the remaining months of hurdle, the organization is targeting to visit every LGUs in the province for this awareness campaign on R.A. 9292. Moreover, the organization has a plan of inviting all building officials on its scheduled quarterly seminar come the month of June and will it be one of the highlights of the activity.
New Electronics Engineers and Technician from BPSU named
The Bataan Peninsula State University - the consistent producer of World-class professionals once again took pride in the Electronics Technician board exam held this April 2012 where they ranked second placer. The lone examinee of BPSU is Jayson Belda Alonzo who garnerned a rating of 87% which is 1% shy from the top post.
The "lucky thirteen" successful examinees for the Electronics Engineering Board examination are as follows:

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 1,439 out of 2,687 passed the Electronics Engineer Licensure Examination and 287 out of 345 passed the Electronics Technician Licensure Examination given by the Board of Electronics Engineering in the cities of Manila and Cebu this April 2012.
The members of the Board of Electronics Engineering are Engr. Sylvia Icasiano-Marcelo, Chairman and Engr. Joel B. Bajador, Member.
The results were released in three (3) working days after the last day of examination.
Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be on April 26 & 27, 2012. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2012-2015. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Members of IECEP Bataan Chapter celebrated its Christmas Party last December 10, 2011 at Lou-is Resort and Retaurant, Balanga City. The event was highighted by the year-end report of the Chapter Governor-Engr. Domer A. Rubiano who presented the summary of the Chapter's activities and major accomplishments for the year. Management for Engineers Seminar held in Bataan
Around 28 Electronics Engineers joined the Management for Engineers Seminar conducted by Engr. Melvin C. Acosta at Mahogany Hall, Lou-is Resort and Restaurant, Balanga City on November 19, 2011. The whole day seminar was highlighted by real life cases and the attendees, most are new board passers, were delighted as the seminar would be more than a preparation for them in their future jobs but can be readily applied in their personal lives as soon as they reach their respective domicile.
Election of Officers for 2012 was also held immediately after the seminar. The new set of Officers will take their office starting January 2012.
IECEP Bataan Chapter is joined by Singles for Christ (SFC) in building one of the initial 15 duplex houses at Barangay Bani, Cataning, Balanga City, Bataan. This project of the Gawad Kalinga Foundation is funded by a group of overseas workers from UAE (United Arab Emirates) and Texas, USA and aimed to provide decent homes for our less fortunate fellow Bataeños. This worthy project is equally supported by other organizations like PICE, Couples for Christ, LGUs (Local Government Units), etc. It is expected to complete the initial 15 duplex houses by end December 2011 which will be inaugurated by Balanga City Mayor- Joet S. Garcia on December 31, 2011 in time with the City of Balanga Cityhood Anniversary. IECEP Bataan Chapter held a seminar on Safety Instrumented System last Saturday, October 22, 2001 at the Sampaguita Hall, Loui's Resort and Restaurant, Capitol Drive, Balanga City. The topic was presented by Mr. Filipino C. Sonido-the President and CEO of I&E Industrial System Services, Inc. The Seminar was attended by ECE Professionals, Electronics Technicians, ECE Instructors and Students from various Colleges and Universities in Bataan. BPSU bags the 2011 IECEP CLSC Regional Quiz Tilt
The Bataan Peninsula State University, Main Campus dominated the 6th IECEP CLSC Regional Quiz Show held at Louis Resort and Restaurant in Balanga City, Bataan on September 24, 2011. The Quiz Show qualifies two of the ten competing schools from the region namely, BPSU as the Champion and Holy Angel University of Pampanga as the 1st Runner up. The 2nd Runner up goes to Don Honorio Ventura State University after they lost to HAU on a tie breaking match after the final round. The event was graced by the IECEP Bataan Chapter Governor-Engr. Domer A. Rubiano and IECEP Pampanga Chapter Governor-Engr. Roman A. Palo. They were also joined by Engr. Alexander R. Chan and Engr. Gerard D. Lubid. The two Chapter Governors and Engr. Chan acted as Board of Judges while Engr. Lubid as the Quiz Master, respectively. BPSU and HAU will represent the Central Luzon Region in the National Quiz Competition during the Annual Membership Meeting and International Exposition in November 2011. Click here for more photos.

IECEP Bataan once again showed its concern for the environment by joining the Internatonal Coastal Cleanup held on September 17, 2011. Members of IECEP Bataan participated in the cleanup of two separate coastal areas namely, Tortugas Bird Watching Park in Balanga City and Sibul-Daang Pari in Orion, Bataan. IECEP Bataan Celebrates 1st Year Anniversary at Bahay Puso
IECEP Bataan Chapter marked its first year anniversary on August 21, 2011. Members started the day by joining the CFC Global Walk 2011 at 5 a.m. This was participated by around 1,500 supporters of Couples for Christ from Bataan . Officers, members and ECE students attended the 8:30 a.m. mass at Bahay Puso Chapel followed by the "Feeding Program" at 11:00 a.m. This is the second time IECEP Bataan conducted Feeding Program at Bahay Puso. The first was November 14, 2010. Around fourty elders benefited from this program.
A member of IECEP Student Chapter from PUP (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), Mariveles won the 2nd Grand Raffle prize of the IECEP National Mid-year Conference held at Clarkfield Pampanga. The prize is a Samsung Mini-laptop and goes to Patrick Macasied. The prize was turned over to Patrick during the monthly Chapter Meeting of IECEP (Professional) Bataan Chapter held on August 12, 2011.

The event was highlighted by the Presidents Report, CPE Seminars and Raffle. A student from PUP Mariveles won the 2nd Grand Raffle Prize - Samsung Mini-Laptop.

IECEP-Bataan Holds Tree Planting Activity at Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan
Officers, members, and student mebers of IECEP-Bataan Chapter joined hands and went to Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan on July 16, 2011 to plant around 30 seedlings of fruit-bearing trees inside a denuded subdivision lot. The volunteers enjoyed the cool breeze of air and the scenic view in front of Corregidor Island. It is hoped that these trees will someday bring shelter and source of food to the endemic birds of Bataan as well as the people around the area. The fruit bearing trees are Marang, Langka, Anonas, Camachile, and a few number of Mahogany (not fruit bearing). IECEP-Bataan will conduct occular visit to the site to ensure survival of the newly planted seedlings.
